Little Steps to Learning Educational Programs

Our Fun Based Curriculum Enables Teachers to Create Learning Experiences that Stimulate Development.
We place a strong emphasis on incorporating STEM activities for each age group. Our days at Little Steps are jam packed with Laughter and Learning! We guide children as they learn to talk, read, count, and most importantly PLAY. We do this all from our amazing facility located right in the heart of North Haledon, New Jersey. Our mission is to bring top rated education at an affordable cost to families in our area.

Staff to Student Ratio: 1 staff: 3 students

Your little toddler is busy learning, approaching the world with curiosity, and seeking a sense of belonging. Our toddler program encourages the children to build a community in an environment that supports learning together and caring for each other.

The toddlers eat meals at tables together and enjoy an open concept playroom with free play and weekly activities that promote exploration and learning. The children play daily in the outdoor playground, or on days when the weather doesn’t cooperate, they’ll play in our large indoor gym.

The large, bright playroom includes colorful mats, a story area, and an assortment of age-appropriate toys. We provide high chairs and cribs for the younger children.

We follow a curriculum similar to the preschool, just taught at a toddler’s pace.
We teach with love and patience, working to guide the children to an understanding that learning is fun

    Preschool

    Teachers: Miss Jan

    Caregivers: Miss Carina

    Staff to Student Ratio: 2:7

*New Jersey’s State Requirement is 1 staff: 4 students

We have a complete curriculum teaching the children letters, numbers, shapes, colors as well as science, geography, and Spanish.

We work on fine and gross motor skills along with an introduction to scissor and writing skills. Language development, imagination, and socialization are focal points for this age group.

Our units are very hands-on. We have many activities which make learning fun.  The children are encouraged to engage with an activity at the many centers that are set up around the room and highlight the particular focus of our lesson.

We do a great deal of process art and open-ended questions.  The most difficult part of these is getting children to realize that no answer is wrong and no picture is done incorrectly.  Once they understand that concept the creativity flows!

We believe that no two children learn nor react the same way.  We focus on the individual child and what their needs might be to better help them gain the knowledge and confidence to go forward in their school journey.

There is no better feeling than seeing the light in a child’s eyes of understanding and the smile that follows.  They sit or stand a little straighter and carry an air of confidence and pride.  We are so excited to be part of that!

    Before&After care

Our before & after care program is currently accepting kindergarten and first grade and second grade students. We are conveniently located right across the street from Memorial Elementary School.

Work hours don’t always align with school hours. Little Steps to Learning offers before school care starting at 7:00 AM  and after school care until 6:00 PM – Monday through Friday.

Our caregivers walk children over to the school before classes begin and meet them when school ends to walk them back to our building for some fun!

Our before and after care programs are limited to small groups to provide your children with lots of space and  quiet time to decompress before and after attending elementary school. Our teachers are here to help your child study, do homework, read, or just play and have fun!

By keeping our enrollment limited for our before and aftercare program we are able to give your kids one on one attention in a welcoming, home like environment.
